Blue Bayou is a four member ensemble featuring Tommy Alderson on guitar, Leah Ritter and Heidi Porter on vocals and Sharon Gould on bass. We play a wide selection of music from traditional country to classic rock to light jazz and alternative pop. The band has been playing in and around the DE, PA and MD region for over 3 years and has developed a reputation for quality entertainment and beautiful sound. We enjoy performing all sorts of events from light background music for dinners or corporate events, to lively dance tunes for parties and clubs. You can meet the band members below and hear selections from our repertoire.
Where can we start? Tommy is one of the most well-known and loved and most sought after musicians in the area and has been featured by Philadelphia Magazine as one of the top guitar players in the region. We're so lucky to have him! He has done it all - from touring to recording to writing to playing demos for Guytron Guitar Amplification at the NAMM show. Tommy is the musical foundation of the band simultaneously providing melody, harmony and percussion on his Blonde Bombshell (Taylor 6 string), while singing at the same time. He really is a guitar players' guitar player - you have to see him to believe how much music can come from one guitar! He is amazing on his electric axes as well - check him out with one of his other projects - The Texas Heat Band, or the Chris Johnson Band. He is known to appear from time to time with Johnny Neel, as well as other local greats. When he's not jamming, Tommy is also a genius at guitar set ups and repairs, being the choice of musicians up and down the East Coast for precision, custom guitar work, including Steve Morse of Deep Purple.
Leah (aka “Peeps”)
Leah was born singing. Music has always been natural for her whether with her family, including her sister Heidi, in voice lessons or school chorus, or her old gig singing karaoke. It's a good thing, too - she has a voice that will melt your socks and give you goosebumps. When Tommy found her singing Patsy Cline's "Crazy," his knees went weak and the rest is local music history. We're not the only ones who recognize her talent, Leah won a contest sponsored by Shania Twain and performed with her at the Wachovia Center before a crowd of thousands.
We're fortunate to have Peeps as our front"man," too. She keeps us all amused between songs with her playful banter and teasing commentary. Her other projects include her family, her job, and her catering business. (No, she never sits down...)

Heidi was discovered by Tommy while singing karaoke at a club in Delaware about 10 years ago and the rest is history. She regularly bewitches audiences at Blue Bayou performances with her signature vocal sound. Heidi can sing it all from sweet tender country ballads, to smoky jazz, to gritty rock songs. She and her sister Peeps have performed together since they were teenagers, and have been with Tommy in various bands for several years. Heidi has pursued some solo recordings and can also be seen performing with the Larry Tucker Band as well as Group Therapy at venues in the tristate area. When she's not mesmerizing her fans, Heidi works with horses and also as a veterinary assistant in Maryland.

Sharon is the newest member of Blue Bayou, joing the band in 2005. She has been messing with guitars since before Leah and Heidi were born (!). Sharon has recently begun playing bass again after a 14 year hiatus to raise her kids and work on her day job. She feels truly blessed to be playing with this very talented group, having lucked into the job after being introduced to Tommy at a jam at a friend's house. Sharon has played all different genres of music, but particularly enjoys anything improvisational. She especially enjoys the musical curveballs Tommy throws out from time to time! Never a dull moment - and if you're not careful, she might sing a little, too. Her latest addiction is this website - drop a line and let us know how she's doing!
